(Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) MALTA, June 17 The Renown arirved this afternoon and was escorted into the harbour by the First Destroyer Flotilla and fleet of aeroplanes. All the warships were gaily dressed, and fired the .Royal Salute. Maltese crowds lined the battlements and acclaimed the arrival of the Royal ship by hand clapping and cheering. JAfter /numerous official calls, their Highnesses landed and proceeded through the decorated streets to Valetta Palace, where and investiture was held. Later they drove to San Antonio, the Governor’s country residence, where they are staying the night. The Duchess of York descended, to the nethermost depths of the ship when she accompanied the Duke on a visit to the torpedo room. Making light of climbing ladders in order to reach it, and scorning proffered overall, accepting only gloves to protect her hands, she moved among the oily death dealing mon sters, and looked at the yawning steel tubes, while a Torpedo Officer ex plained the mysteries of their working.
