BRIGHTER WELLINGTON. To the Editor of the “Big Tree Bulletin. ’ ’ . Passing down Cuba Street, it struck me that Wellington lias lost "well of its old-time gaiety. I.ainbton Quay is as dingy as a morgue, Government Buildings are gloomy ami grey, and no one laughs in Willis Street. Is this the town, 1 thought, of which Kll.i Wheeler Wileox wrote “Earth hath not anything to show more fair’’* of which George Wallace cried “It was roses, roses all the way. ”t As practical hints for brightening our solemn city. I suggest that the Town Hall be painted True Blue, and the columns of the portico, instead of showing the grey stone, should be made to, represent Big Tree pumps. The brightening of our policemen’s millinery was a step in the right direction, but not far enough; could no one design them a daring uniform of pink muslin, caught up at the hip with a simple garland of True Blue rosettes? —I am, etc., IDA NIDEA.
