REEFTON NOTES.

(Our Own Correspondent). On Sunday evening at St. Stephen’s Church, the members of the Choir made a presentation to Miss AL Osborne, who is to be married to-day (Wednesday). The Rev. J. W. Bloyce, in presenting her with a handsome inscribed clock, referred to the great assistance Aliss Osborne had been in church matters, as well as in the Choir, and wished her and her intended husband, Air L. Walker, the greatest happiness. Air A. B. AVest responded on behalf of Aliss Osborne. Air J. Hurley and party have been successful in finding a payable reef |n the Snowy District, and an application for the ground was lodged here in the Wardell’s Court on AEonday. The AVestport Tennis Club played a scries of games against Reefton on Sunday last, the local players winning by 205 to 179. Reefton won seventeen sets and the visitors ten. The, canvassers for the Agriculnral and Pastoral Association, who visited the Grey Valley at the week-end, report meeting with a very favourable reception. There was a good attendance at the Blacks Point euchre on Saturday evening, the ladies’ prizes being won by Airs Black and Mrs N. Collins, and the gentlemen’s prizes'- by Afessrs Aloyle and F. Alillar. The music for the dance was supplied by Airs Alcllcnry and Air Alillar carried out the duties of AI.C. Two rinks of AVestport bowlers visited Reefton on Sunday, and after a very keen game were successful by one point, the scores being AA r estport 37; Reefton 36. Details are: No 1 rink (Westport) Harrison, Lee, Alorgan, Drury (s) 16; Reefton, Cleaver, Youlls, Nevin, Mori (s) 19. No. 2 rink (Westport), Levy, Caldwellj Ahearn, Sara (s) 21; Reefton, Downey, D. AVoods, Blackmore, AleCawe (s) 17. Air AVilliam Tieslop, of Adelaide, is ,at jiresent. on a visit to Reefton. Information has been received of the death in Sydney of Doctor Afonson, who was for some years in practice on the West Coast. He was married to a daughter of Afrs and the late Air S. AFontcith, was about 37 years of age, and leaves a widow and two children. The late Dr Alon son was highly respected by all with whom he came into professional contact, having been a most considerate and sympathetic doctor. Alany AVest Coast friends will regret to learn of his comparatively early demise. The heat is as pronounced in Reefton lately as in any part of the AVest Coast, reaching 96 degrees in the shade on Sunday. Aliss C. Panckhurst, daughter of Air D. Panckhurst, who is proceeding to Auckland, was presented by the members of the Junior Choir of St. Stephen’s Church with an eversharp pencil.
