Miss Gladys Sumner, of Paroa, has re turned from a visit to Christchurch. Miss Kennedy leaves for Christchurch by to-day's express. Mrs Burrell leaves by the express for Christchurch to-day. Sister Jeans formerly of the Greymouth Hospital stair leave- for Nelson to-day. Mr. Austin Peckston, M.M.E.A., of the Tide Water Oil Coy., is at—'present visiting the Coast. Mrs Godfrey, of Christchurch, who has been visiting Mrs. W. Cunningham returns to-day by the express. Misses K. and M. Tibbles leave by the Christchurch express to-day en route for Auckland. Mrs E. Kearns leaves for Palmerston North by the express for Christchurch to-day. Mr. F. Eggleton, Inspector of Rail way Permanent Ways, returns to-day from a visit to Christchurch. Miss Learmont and Miss Bowering who have been on a visit to Greymoutn leave by the express for Wellington today. Mr. Arthur C. Fortey of the Fortey Sales Service, Wellington, who has been visiting Greymouth, leaves by the express this morning for Christchurch. Visitors to the West Coast at present include Misses Leamon and E. Bow ering, from Australia, who are on a tour. A cable states that it is rumoured in banking circles in London that Mr. Scott of the London Branch will be appointed Governor of the Commonwealth Bank. Mr. Geo. Avery, promoter of the New Brittania Gold Mining Company at Waimanagaroa has gone to spend a couple of months at the Alexandra Reefs. A Press Association message from Dannevirke states that Mr. G. T. She was Dux of the school for the year : ending 1926. thus gaining the coveted > medal and she also secured the highest ■ percentage in Christian Doctrine, which entitled her to the gold medal for that suject. During the year this talented child, who has just completed her eleventh year, passed with honours two theoretical examinations, gaining 8< and 93 per cent respectively. The death of Mr. Neil Galbraith at the age of 60 is announced in a Press Association message from Dunedin. The deceased was manager for John Mil* and Co., and formerly manager of the New Zealand Shipping Co. Hhe took a i great interest in sport and was at one > time chairman of committee and surer of the New Zealand Rugby Union. He was also manager of the All Blacks in Australia in 1905 and conduct ed Sievewrighrs English team through cut New Zealand. He was prominently connected with rowing at Wellington end Lvttelton.
