PLUNKET SOCIETY.

FLOWER SHOW. The cause of the Planter, Society Was again brought to the notice of the general public yesterday afternoon, when a flower show and sale of work, to augment the funds of the Greymouth Branch, was held. The Oddfellows’ Hall was requisitioned for the occasion and presented a -Bright, colourful appearance lent by the attractive array of flowers on view. Useful financial adjuncts to the Show were various stalls, including cookery, vegetables, sweets, cakes, needlework, plain sewing and jumbleware. The refreshment room also did thriving business. Mayoral congratulations were showered upon the Branch by Mr W. H. Parfitt. He referred to the great strides made by the local society and wished it further success in future. If was with much pleasure that ho formally declared the Show to be open. The stallholders were as follows:— Cut Flowers, Miss Hannan; vegetables, Mesdames Ashby and Brebner; domestic and cookery, Mesdames Harvey, and O'Brien, and Miss Anderson; needlework, ‘Mesdames Dennehy and Wutkiuson; sweets, Mesdames Pound and Wilde; jumble, Mesdames Black unci Barrett; afternoon tea, Mesdames Leahy, Haste, Alderton and the Girl ' Guides. Mrs Garde was secretary. The awards were as follows: CUT FLOWERS. Judge, Mr Blewman. Three Roses, any variety (7 entries) —Mrs Thomas .1, Mrs McLachlan 2. Six Roses (3) —Miss Tenncnt 1, Mrs Scddon 2.
