Bates reports: The present indications are for variable breezes moderate to strung westerlies ruling and the weather being warm and fail to cloudy generally, with passing show ers on the West Coast and in tin southern districts. The barometer i unsteady. LAST MONTH’S RECORD. WELLINGTON, December 8. The following weather summary for. the nionlli of November is supplied by I the Government Meteorological Officer I Mr 1). C. Bates: “November is re garded as the last month of spring,' &nd, as such, it may be characterised' as more than usually wet, windy and I cold. Tin* outstanding feature of the past month’s record were great floods in the Buller, Waihakaka, and Wairau Rivers in the first week of the month. Heavy rains at the end of the preceding month had soaked the land and swollen the streams, as well as leaving! snow on the uplands, and when, on the 3rd of November, an extensive westerly low pressure, laden with vapour, made its appearance, many things combined to account for tnc record floods. It rained every day from the 27th of October to the 6th of November in many (daces on the West Uoast, and the Ralls were excessive in high country, viz., “3rd” “4th” “sth” ins. ins. ins.
