REEFTON NOTES.

(Our Own CoiTesiiondeiit.) A block of goldboaring stone has been struck in Number 12 Level of the Wealth of Nations Mine. It is about 3ft Gm in width and is supposed to te a continuation of a good block tnat his beer, worked in the upper levels. The acceptances for the focal trot- , ting meeting on Saturday are particularly good, and contain representatives from all over the Coast, as well as from several Canterbury stables. The local contingent have been doing t excellent work recently, and will keep the visiting 1 horses very busy. It is confidently expected they will win £ several heats. Excellent train arrangements are made for Saturday next, as there is a connection with Reefton both in the morning and evening : from Hokitika in the south to Inangahua Junction in the North. The track is in excellent order. Given fine weather, it promises to be one of the most successful meetings th e Cilub has ever held. Mr. J. Steer, of Greymouth, was a visitor to Reefton on Tuesday evening. At the Tennis Club’s annual meeting, Dr. Church presiding, the following officers' were elected: —President, Mr. E. W. Spencer; viee-president, Dr. R. A. Church; General Committee Mesdames Reeves, Alborn, Patterson, Misses King. Lee, Cairns, Phillips, Messrs Reeves, Hubbard, Lee, Pote, Porter, Duffy. Mr. W. Gore Porter was elected auditor. Mr. Instone was elected Club captain and secretary. October 23 was fixed as the opening day for the season. Fifteen new members were elected.
