GERMAN ARMS.

CHAMBERLAIN’S INSINUATION. LONDON, July 23. Sir Austen Chamberlain’s answer “No” in the House of Commons on M ednesday to the question as to whether Germany’s disarmaanent was satisfactory, has caused a consider able stir in Germany. Tho ‘‘Morning Post’s’’ Berlin correspondent states both official circles and the public consider the answer incomprehensible. The “Taglische Rundachau” states Sir Austen Chamberlain must know disarmament has been carried out practically completely and trivial points outstanding might have been settled long ago if negotiations had not been dragged out for months by the other side. The “Lokal Anzeigher” declares:— "Sir Austen Chamberlain is merely following the policy of chicancers’ which the Entente wishes t o see adopt ed towards Germany in order that she may be reminded that she is a vanquished nation.”
