PORT LYTTELTON.
FURTHER LARGE LOAN. FOR IMPROVEMENTS. CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. Details of a further loan of £300,000 for which it seeks legislative authority, were placed before the Lyttelton Harbour Board to-day. Discussion was held over till next meeting. A report by Engineer (Mr C. J. R. Williams') set out that applications were now coining in for the balance of the Board’s £150,000 loan, and he anticipated that in a few days, the amount of £50,200 required to exhaust the Board’s borrowing powers of £150,COO would have been obtained. It was proposed, he stated, that the allocation of the expenditure of the new loan should be as follows: Additions to “wharves, £85,600; cranes and capstans on wharves, £82,400; travelling crane at dock, £12,000; new dredge £120,000.
