QUEENSLAND FRUIT TRADE. NEW ZEALAND MARKET MAY BE TRIED. Brisbane, August io. Tile report of the Committee of Di /ect-.ox under rhe Queensland Marketing Organisation Act, claims that a s a result of control and the Cbm mittee’s work, the fruit growers have benefited to the extent of nearly £lOO,OOO. In addition, there is a credit of nearly £lO,OOO. In the banana trade during the first six months of 1923, (the number of cases sent- to Sydney and Melbourne was 189,488. The number of cases during the corresponding period of 1924 was 207,111. In 1925 the number rose to 420,551. From estimates supplied by the vanious centres it appears probable that towards tho end of the year, the production will again largely increase. If all the present markets are fullysupplied at -a reasonable price, it is likely that a surplus of from five to ten thousand cases weekly will have lo be exported. With this object in view, the New Zealand market is being investigated, also the possibilities in Canada.
