Its base, according to analysts who have tested the product is benzol. Several varieties of alcohol amt a mysterious metallic catacyst, not unlike tetrathyl lead, make up the mixture. Its action in the new motor designed for its use is said to be more nearly Eke steam power than ■ ■ y internal combustion engine yet devised. Gas in the cylinders is at a higher compression than used in ait orm,,.m engine, and expands without, exp],, sive force and hisses from exhaust- valves like escaping steam. It. is claimed that the new fuel will .revolutionise motor and aerial transportation.

The “Daily News’s’’ Berlin correspondent says: Public opinion is intrigued by projected grandiose schemes partly governmental, and partly private, for converting the Ruhr and lower Silesia coalfields into vast oil producing basins. Research experts claim that successful experiments have proved oil can be produced from coal without the wasteful process of gasification, making Germany an oil exporter instead of an oil importer revolutionising industry, and giving Germany a great- start in the struggles for the world's market Essen and Silesian magnates have spent thousands in the experiments of Professor Bergins, a prominent Mannheim chemist, whose secret process is claimed to prou'tce oil six times the valu e of the original coal.
