BOROUGH AFFAIRS
The .Finance Committee report at Thursday’s meeting of the Borough Council stated: — It is recom mended that the Grey Power Board be permitted to erect poles in King Domain for the purpose of carrying electric power hues through that property. It was resolved to request the Gas Works Alan. ager, who was present, to prepare a report as to the advisability of the Borough purchasing electric current in bulk from the Power Board and retailing same. Accounts amounting to £794 3.s lod were recommended for payment, subject to some of them holing certified to by the Engineer. Accounts amounting to £2292 2s 7d, which were paid since last meeting, were ex_ were paid since last meeting, were examined. It was recommended that the 'Town Hall roof be repaired, the mailer of the time of carrying out the work to be left to the Works Committee. It was decided to grant a permit to Mr W. Angel for the erection of a garage in 'Thompson Street, subject to the necessary conditions being complied with. It was decided not to take any action regarding an abdication for increase of salary.
