His Honour, Mr Justice Alpers, left for Hokitika yesterday. Mr H. Scotney, of Wellington, is on a visit to Greymouth. Mr H. Haskell, of Poerua, was a • visitor yesterday to Grey mouth. Haskell, of Veerim, who has been undergoing treatment at the Grey River Hospital for the past five weeks, has recovered sufficiently to be able to leave the institution, and is returning honn- this morning bv the ex. The remains of the late Air Alichael John (Mick) Thornton were interred at Karoro cemetery yesterday after, noon, the cortege being a lengthy one. A detachment of returned soldiers acted as pall bearers. Tn the morning solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church by the Rev. L-’ather Houlahan, assisted by the Rev. Father Fogarty, who also conducted the service at the graveside.
