As in ]»r<*- \ ions y:*ars the League has held a “watching brief” in the Canterbury interest in reference to such matters as (h<* West Coast Railway, the Lake Coleridge Electrical Supply, and the Bort Ra ilway, matters of first .class importance, to which a good deal oi attention has had to be paid. In each of these matters the goal that the T.eague has set itself has yet to be ar. 1 a incd. The West Coast Railway is not yet carrying as large an amount of fra Hie as it should; the electrical supply of the province is not yet assured, and the Fort Line is still very much in the condition in which the contractors for the tunnel left it, more than half a century ago.
