OF FAKING A SURPLUS. SYDNEY, June 20. The new Labour I’remier, Hon. Mr J.ang, states that there is no surplus in the N.S.W, finances. Various statements had been made that the Buller Government was leaving behind a surplus of half a million sterling, but anv business can show a surplus il it omits from the accounts sufficient liabilities. The Government proposes to introduce a bill in the present Parliament to abolish the death penalty.
