RESCUED FROM FIRE
TWO MEN COMMENDE.D WELLINGTON, June 20. The story of a plucky rescue of txv children from a burning building wa related at the Afagistratc’s Court t> day when an inquest concluded on < girl aged six, who lost her life in a recent fire at Tawa Flat. The Coroi commended th c con’duct of Milton Al xted and Gordon Staples, through wh sc courage the two other children v re saved. The mother, Florence Bailc; . widow stated that she went into Wellington to consult a doctor, lea nig only a small fire in thc range. Her tram was held up for an hour, and there was no other tram back till 12.25 p.m. The Magistrate said that the n ether had committed a serious error of judgment. She should have left her children with neighbours. He found that the deceased was burned to death in a fire which destroyed her mother’s house at Tawa Flat on thc 13th of June.
