THE HAWAII DEFENCES. (Received June IS at 5.5 p.m.) HONOLULU, June 17. 1 he naval transport Chaumont arrived to-day with a party of twelve Congressmen and their families, a'nj two million dollars of gold bullion. The Congressional party wore welcomed by Admiral Coontz, and the bullion was met by an armed guard of one thousand sailors. The local Honolulu ladies adorned the Congressional party with flower garlands, after the traditional Hawaiian fashion. The gold was carefully removed to two battleships.
