BURGLAR’S EXPLOIT

MADE HIMSELF AT HOME. AUCKLAND, Juno 16. The police received advice to.day that Maurice McCauliffe had been ar_ rested at Arapuni on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of Murk Salas, outfitter, Victoria St., Auckland. Accused was charged at Putaruru Court and remanded to Auckland. The circumstances of the burglary, which occurred between Saturday, M*ay 30th. and Monday, June Ist. were peculiar. Entrance was effected 1 through the roof, a sheet of iron being removed, while holes were cut in the ceiling of a top-floor shop, and then in the ceiling of Salas’ shop below. Investigation showed that a man had boiled the kettle at tho back of the shop, made a cup of cocoa, and had a shave, before departing through the front door, *with a suitcase con taining goods valued at £75.
