A RECORD MEETING Prince Feouz Strikes Form ihe Reefton Jockey Club's animal Autumn meeting was held yesterday under ideal wcathe r conditions, and before a record attendance, which included a large contingent from Greymouth, Hokit ika, and West port, The course was in splendid order, and record fields contested all the c'enls >n the programme. The line starting •T Mr R. Ha tch met with warm approval from the public, and the unanimoiß opinion of all present was that the starting yesterday could riot be surpassed on any racecourse in the Dominion. The Reefton club it to b<* eongratulated on the excellent manner in which their autumn meeting was conducted, the programme being carried through without the slightest hitch. There were some* close finishes during the day, and the duties of the judge were admirable carried out by Mr -I. M. Irving, whose decisions gave general satisfaction. 'The luncheon and afternoon tea-rooms catered in a manner for the public that left nothing to l»e desired, and proceedings were enlivened by an approprite musical programme rendered by the Inangabna Silver Band. The totalizator investments for the day amounted to £9.650, compared with £7,907 on the corres ponding day last year, an increase of £1,743. Prince Charleroi was made a good favourite, and from a perfect start. Gaslight was in front going out of the straight, and showed the way to Hie field turning for home, when Prine Charleroi took charge with Probate in third place coming fast. The favourite went on to win by a head from Probate, who Imat Gaslight by half a head. Caliburn was a poor fourth. Time 1.18. Tote £lOOl. From an excellent start. Foremost showed out from the field, but at the end of a furlong, broke his overcheck, and took no further part in the race. Arran Chief then took ccmmand. fol lowed by Prince Charlie and Ocean Whispers, with Trixie Adair and Tracey Boy ahead of the others, and Trez•/n tailing the field. Arran Chief maintained the lead, and in the straight, Te Karere lost his place to Tracey Boy. the order for the rest of the race remaining unchanged. Arran Chief winning easily by two and a half lengths, with Te Karere a length away third. Ocean Whispers was some distance back fourth. Time 2.26. Tote £1149J. Caverock, (.’ashman and Bestir were the only starters in th Hurdles: From an even start, Bestir end Cashman raced on even terms past the stand, with Caverock close in attendance. At the first jump', Caverock Plundered badly, and had to be pulled up alter negotiating the first round. Cashman and Bestir wore together for the remainder of the race, the former having :v slight advantage. In a good race for home, Cashman prevailed by a long neck. Time 2.551. Tele £728.. North Inch improved his position in the Straight, displacing Rapid Rose, but could make no impression on the favourite. who won rather easily by a length and a half from North Tuck, who. finished half a length in front of Rapid Rose.
