TARIFF DIFFICULTY
CANADA AND AUSTRALIA. PREMIERS AT VARIANCE (Received April 22 at 5.5 p.in.) OTTAWA, April 21. Mr SUvens, a .Member of the House of Commons for Vancouver, to-day urg. ed that some definite statement, on the Australian-Canridian tariff treaty be made. He stated Hint the trade be. Iwcin the two countries was being affected by the uncertainty prevniling. The Premier. Mr McKenzie King - , replied that i(- was herd to say definitely when the negotiations would be concluded. They still were continuing concerning certain changes. The <'ana din a newspapers have printed n dispatch quoting Mr Bruce (Australian Premier) as saying that he knew of no reason why Canada did not. conclude the tariff .agreement. Mr McKenzie King, commenting on Mr Bruce’s remark, said that he could not understand how Mr Bruce made such a statement, as he must, know that caldes were passing daily between the two Governments with regard to the changes inentioned.
