FIRE ON LINER

WHILE IN DOCK. (Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assn.) (Received April Hi at 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, April 15. A lire broke out on the liner Mount Laurier, which was being repaired in div dock at Birkenhead. Tho forepart of the vessel was destroyed. Four lire brigades, divided into 30 sections, were occupied -ill the morn* ing before ’.he lire was put out. the forward plates became white hot. Tho firemen had the greatest difficulty in getting near. Two wore overcome by the fumes, although they 'wore masks. A numb-r of firemen climbed to tho top deck, and formed'a human ladder in order to fasten up a scaffolding to hold the hose. The damage totals sixty I lion ;t ml.
