1923 REVEILLE

STARTING ON AUGUST 2. On Thursday, August 2, the above spectacular extravaganza opens at the Grey mouth Opera House. Its attractiveness can be gathered from the fact that more than 500 different frocks will be worn at the opening performance. There are 10 separate and distinctive ballets, 19 vocal numbers all supported by a strong chorus or dance. There are nine soloists, and amongst the incidents and specialties will be an Ariel One-Step (acrobatic) which will be danced by Miss Leach and Mr W. Lints. Mr Lints, the able director, already has gained fame in many big centres for the brilliance with which ho invariably stages tho Reveille. It is a spectacular extravaganza (briefly outlined by the advertisement in this issue), in which the programme variec on each of tho seven nights which it runs here, and the admission of Mr Lints that the amateur talent here compares well indeed with that with which he has elsewhere attained wonderful results is a guarantee that a remarkable treat is in store for our local theatregoers. There are 42 separate and distinct numbers, more than 500 different ballets, 19 vocal numbers all supported by special choruses and scenery, nine soloists, and about 6,000 feet of rope is used to manipulate the 27 different cloths and effects. Without doubt, this delectable theatrical novelty will be as hearily relished by tho Greymouth community, as it lias been in every other centre where shown. Mr Lints will be seen in an electric table introducing the waltz clog and ragtime on fast ball-bearing ( skates. The Great Liberty March is a brilliant stage spectacle, and will be presented by 130 performers. Another : dazzling march is the Human Pack of Cards. The scenery, etc., for this number cost £l4O and is seen for only four minutes. The following is an extract from the “Sun”: For an amateur performance to extend almost over a fortnight with crowded houses each night seems almost unbelievable, but such is the record established by “Our Reveille,” to which very few without reserved tickets could obtain admission last night.
