GERANIUM MISHAP
A “Hoodoo” Log BRISBANE, July 23. On arrival of fhe Geranium, Commander Bennett stated the vessel was dogged by ill luck after an officer found| a| strangely: shaped log lying in tho bush on Turntile Island. The log was painted red and yellow. It was hollow and plugged with ‘human bones. Six aboriginals on board tho Geranium became alarmed at the sight of the log muttering “dcbbil.” After experiencing a number of mishaps it was decided the log was “hoodoo,” and to land it, after which a smooth trip was enjoyed. many’s capacity to pay is contrary to the Versailles Treaty, but foreshadows an eventual compromise on these lines. The Reparations Committee always has the right to consult specialists of any country upon any request by Germany regarding payment.
