NO TRUCK SHORTAGE.
Traffic Manager’s Views. LACK OF CARGO CAUSE OF DELAY. “ There is a shortage of truck in 7revmouth on occasions only,” sa : d MT I. L. Morgan (District Traffic Mana ;er of Railways) to an “Argus” r- 1 porter yesterday. lie said that t’.article which appeared in Thursda - '• ssuo, giving the opinions of shipping agents on the matter of delays in shin dug, was not correct in all. Watei ideis were held up sometimes waitin'; for a shunt, but certainly not for lo: ;: fhe delays were caused by the fact hat, where a number of ships were berthed in a line, several had to be Held up, whilst a shunt was made to •me in the centre of the line. A ship vas diverted last Wednesday, from Treymouth to Westport, to load coal, 'ot because there was a shortage of trucks, but because there was r shortage of coal. Most of the delays were aused by shortages of timber and coal. There was quite enough rolling stock o cope with an ordinary amount of <hipping.
