Colonel AfcCristall leaves for Christchurch th.is morning. Air James Jack (Christchurch) arrived in Greymouth yesterday morning. Messrs Bradley and Mahon arrived in town yesterday from Hokitika. The early part of his life was spent in working in various coal-mines around Reefton, although of late he had followed the trade of carpenter. He leaves a wife and a family of five, his wife being a daughter of Airs J. W. Patterson*. Burke’s Creek, Reef ton. His jnother, brothers and sisters reside in Dcvonport, Auckland. Deceased was a prominent member ot‘ the Afethodist Church, and was respected by a wide circle of friends. The death took place yesterday morning at his residence, Preston Road, of Mr Michael Hanrahan, at the age of 44 years. Deceased, who ..was employed in the Railway Department’s maintenance staff at Greymouth, had only been ill since Wednesday morning, when he was prostrated by a stroke whilst ai work, and did not afterwards regain consciousness. The late Air Hanrahan, who was widely known and highly respected, was a native of Goldsborougli, Westland, where until a couple of years ago, he was engaged in business as hotelkeeper. He leaves a widow and family of four, the eldest IS years of i age, and the youngest six months. His mother, Mrs G. Hanrahan also survives him, and he leaves five brothers, Messrs Edward, George, Joseph, Daniel and Richard Hanrahan, of Greymouth, and three sisters, Mrs G. Alallinson (Greymouth), and Misses Nora and Margaret Hanrahan, at present in Christchurch. Air E. Hcrlihy, of Ilari llari, South Westland, who lias been on a visit to Waiuta, leaves to-day by the express on a few weeks’ visit to Christchurch.
