HIGH RAIN RECORDS.
Probably Due to Cloud-Burst (A, and NZ. Cable Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. The only places isolated in the Christchurch postal district to-day are Avoca and Cass, on the Midland Railway. The West Coast mails are going via Wellington. Telegraphically, the position to-day is the same as yesterday. It is hoped to get connection with Kaikoura and Waiau to-day. The rainfall at Christchurch since Thursday was 6.30 in., which beats all records. Mr Skey, director of the Magnetic Observatory, says that the high records such as 25 inches may be accepted as reliable, as they would probably be due to cloud bursts.
