THE FAMOUS DIGGERS.

NEW REAL GIRL SHOW OPERA HOUSE, MONDAY AND TUESDAY NEXT. The accession of 10 winsome girls is undoubtedly a step on to terra firmn. This has been proved by Hie record attendances which this reorganised erstwhile war-born combination has been receiving in other parts of New Zealand during their present tour. The management have again shown correct judgment in securing from Australia ami even further afield a coterie of new comedians, singers and dancers, besides retaining some of the old favourites. Of the newcomers, the most notable are Mademoiselle Claire Goolev, a French soprano. Miss Lily Dalgleish, a charming soiihrette, Mr Claude Bell, one of Australia's greatest baritones, and last, bur nut the le: st, Jimmy Norton, known throughout America as “That London Boy,’ - ' a comedian ami dancer of superlative talent. Mademoiselle Claire Gordey was imported from England a year ago to sing and play leading parts for Harry Musgrove's Tivoli Enterprises in Australia. She came for three months and stayed 12. The Diggers secured her at the end of her Australian engagement and New Zealanders will thus have an opportuniuty of hearing an operatic soprano of peerless merit. Claude Bell, the baritone, confesses to having been born in Sydney. He, however, decided to travel ami eventually found himself in London where he had the honour of singing at some of the Albert Hall concerts. Not long ago he returned to his native land and was recently singing at the Tivoli ami Haymarket Theatres in Sydney. Miss Eilv Dalgleish is a merry soubrette who is already known to playgoers in the Dominion as a member ot the Sunshine Players Revue Company. She has a charming personality and is clever withal. Joe Valli, the quaint Scottish comedian and dancer, who made such a hit with the audiences during last tour, is still with the company and has some delectable comedy for the new programme. Stan Lawson is not dropping out completely from the position of “Misleading Lady,” but he will be seen in “he-man’’ parts as well, and he proves more decisively what a really i great artist he is. Gus Dawson and Tano Fama are still with tin* company and the former is putting forward some clever dancing. “The Superb Six" all girl beauty 1 ballet round off a firn* show while the Diggers’ Orchestra under Mr Dave Lockwood is as good as ever. Finaliv let it be said that never have th" Diggers put forth such sumptuous scenery and radiantly beautiful costuming as they have on this occasion.
