FARMERS’ POLITICS.
A GRIC UL T, UR AL E ANE S, [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] AUCKLAND, October Jo. The Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union to-day adopted a report by the Political Committee, to the affect that active slops had boon <: . on to impress upon the Government the urgent necessity of definite action in regard to certain matters of vital interest 1o the farming community. With regard to retrenchment, so far as it had gone it was satisfactory. The position with regard to the compulsory pooling of the marketing of exports was satisfactory. The question of a produce shipping line could be loft in abeyance for the present. If a satisfactory Agricultural Banking Act was passed during this session the Country Party should not put up any candidate of the forthcoming election, and the members of the Union were recommended to support candidates who would pledge themselves to support the proposals mentioned, so that the Government might be enabled to carry them out as soon as practicable. It was resolved to telegraph the Government, urging that legislation be brought forward this session for establishing agricultural banks on the lines advocated by the Dominion Conference.
