SHOW GROUNDS FIRE.

Damage to the extent of £lOOO was ! caused by a fire at the Show Grounds 1 this morning, the loss falling on the I Canterbury A. and I’. Association and ■ Mr J. \\ . ' The fire occurred in the merino ' house, which was being used as a work- | shop by Mr Francis, and, only for the 'good work of the brigade, many of the permanent buildings would have gone.
