EY BROKEN HILL COMPANY. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] SYDNEY, October 9. The Arbitration Court granted th< application by the Broken Hill Pro prietary Co., for a variation of till award governing the conditions of cm ploy men t at the Newcastle stcc works. The object of the applicatioi is to reduce labour cost by 10 pc cent. As the Company told the Cour that it would preserve the living wag' for all employees, the reduction cub affects the higher wages.
