HARI HARI NOTES.

(By “Big Turnip.”) We had a visit of two Hokitika teams on Saturday last, namely, the Excelsior seniors and the Excelsior juniors. The junior game was played first and ended in a win for the visiting team by 8 points to three. At 3 p.m. the senior game started, and the Excelsiors in the first, fifteen minutes had 1) points up against the ‘‘Hayseeds,” and the game ended 19 points to 3. 1 might say that the Hari Hari players, both senior and junior, always take a beating well, amt on the play of both matches, the better teams won. The senior player for the Hari Hari juniors might pull out, and be a spectator after this season. The senior team were without the services of McKay, Scott and AtcEnaney. Mr John Hewer (sour.) took up a collection on (he ground. By the look of his hat, after he had hit ‘‘Big Turnip” up for his shilling, il must have been overflowing when he had finished up collecting. Mr A. Sutherland had charge of the whistle in both games, and I am pleased to say, he gave satisfaction both to the players and the spectators generally. I hear that a AVaiho Gorge resident thinks of contesting the Westland scat against the sifting member, if neither Labour nor Reform puts a candidate in the field. One of the doctors in Hokitika has a new way of getting around South Westland. He leaves his home per motor-car, and to get back to Hokitika he has to engage the services of a motor-lorj-y to land him back in the “fifth rate” town. The flood we had last Monday landed the derrick used for erecting the Little Wanganui Bridge a few chain down the river. I regret to say the last of 85 crates of cheese forwarded from our factory was classed second grade. Mr George McMillan, who has not been in the best of health this last few months, is now greatly improving.
