ATTEMPTED HOLD-UP.
POLICE INSPECTOR WOUNDED. [A. and N.Z. Cable Association.] SYDNEY, July 20. A sensational hold-up of a Silo construe! ion paymaster was attempted between Ariah Park and Mirrool. Paymaster Leifferman, accompanied by Inspector Skinner, were carrying £3,000 in pay for Silo workers -at Ariah Park, Mirrool and Kamarah. When nearing Mirrool a charge of shot was fired : t their ear from behind a tree, wounding the Inspector. The paymaster presented a revolver in the direction from whence the shot came and saw a man running through the trees. Both occupants of the ear, taking no risks, seized the money, and took refuge in a nearby farmhouse. • Two arrests have been made.
