U.S.A. MINISTER’S ESCAPE. PEKIN, July 19. M. Denby, Secretary of the United (States Navy, who is visiting China, narrowly escaped death in an aeroplane crash. The engine failed at a height ( of -1000 feet. The machine was demolished, butz Mr Denby was unhurt. BLAKE IN INDIA. LONDON, July 19. Blake arrived at Karachi this morn- I ing. FLIGHT ACROSS PACIFIC. TO BE ATTEMPTED SOON. (United Service.) LONDON, July 19. An attempt will shortly be made to fly across the Pacific from S: n Francisco to Sydney, via Honolulu, Samoa, and Fiji by Major Morgan, who accompanied Raynham in the attempted Atlantic flight in 1919. Morgan will bo accompanied by Captain Haslam and a wireless operator. They hope to start the first week in October, leaving San Francisco on a Monday, and reaching Sydney the following Friday.
