ARMAMENT QUESTION.

Colonel Amery in the Commons, on moving the second reading of the Washington Treaties Bill ,explained that the object was to give the Government legal powers to carry out certain provisions of the two naval treaties. He thought then* should not be any hesitation in showing that the English Parliament was entirely behind this great pact. Mr Asquith said that he would have welcomed an agreement to abolish submarine warfare altogether. Tt was time we had a similar agreement regarding land armaments and men. Colonel Amery said that he still hoped the Powers outside the five signatories would come into line. The Bill was read a second time unanimously.
