PERSONAL.
Messrs Parminter (Otira) and Ellery were in town over the week-end. A London cable records the death of William Nelson, founder of the Nelson line. A London cable states that Admiral Percy Grant has been appointed Admiral Superintendent of the Portsmouth Dockyard. A wedding of considerable interest took place at Granity on June 30th, the contracting parties being Air James Black of Granity and Alias C. Afilligan of Auckland. Rev Miller performed the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of Air Smith of Seddonville was attired in a charming mole grey crepe de chine frock, and a blue velvet hat, with henna chenille daisies. She w.’s attended by Miss Linda Graham, who wore a shell grey braided robe. Air R. AlcKenna a new arrival from Scotland attended the bridegroom. The church was beautifully decorated, and Airs Nesbitt played the “Wedding March.” The wedding breakfast was held in the church, at which 82 guests sat down to an enormous display of everything -edible that could be mentioned. Airs Lawson, late of Victoria Tea Rooms, Westport catered, and also laid the tables in her usual excellent style, that left nothing to be desired. The wedding cake was made at Ngakawau, and w; s a beautiful piece of work of the confectioners’ art. On the cake were two white ribbon streamers, tied in a bow. The bride just pulled the bow undone, and the slices of cake fell apart, much to the admiration of all in the vicinity of the cake! The wedding presents were numerous and costly. The bride’s going away costume was navy blue, with hat to match. The happy couple left amidst showers )f rico and confetti for their honeymoon south.
