.Mr Thomas Campbell, of Greymouth, is at present on a visit to Christchurch. Henry Ford is a possible candidate • for the American Presidential election of 1924. Sir Joseph Ward is at present on a visit to Marlborough as the guest of Mr R. McCullum, M.P.. A cable records the death of the Monte Carlo magnate, the Prince of Monaco, in a Paris nursing homes The death is announced at Nelson of Mr H. F. Innes-Jones, a brother of tho Rev Alan Innes-Jones, formerly of Greymouth. The marriage of Mr Arthur Dettert, forn.erly of Greymouth, to Miss Elsie Speer, late of Hornchurch (England), will take place at Palmerston North on Saturday next. A Vancouver cable states the death is announced of Madame Lillian Russell, the operatic singer. She was married four times. Hon 11. L. Michel yesterday left by the express for Wellington to attend to his Parliamentary duties, being accompanied by Mrs Michel, and Mrs T. R. Saywell. Mr W. A. Rumbold, who has resigned the headmastership of Reef ton School to take over that of Sydenham, Christchurch, proceeds overland tomorrow. The funeral of the late James Hyndman, of Cobden, was largely attended yesterday afternoon, the cortege in: eluding a. numerous Cobden representation. Ven Archdeacon. Carr conducted the funeral service. Superintendent J. A. McGrath, who has the longest service of any present member of the Police Department, viz., 44 years, will retire on superannuation towards the end of the year.
