SHIPPING DISPUTE.

UNION CO. WANTS NEW AWARD. WELLINGTON, June 26. A dispute between the Union Steam Ship Company and the Institute of Ma line Engineers came before the Conciliation Council to-day. The Union Company sought a new award and the application was made to add a number of smaller shipping companies to the dispute. Captain Petersen, on behalf of the Shipowners’ Federation, applied for exemption of small boats from the proceedings. The application to add the parties was referred to the Court. As no agreement could bo come to with respect to wages this matter was also referred to the Court for decision. ENGINEERS AND EMPLOYERS CONFER. WELLINGTON, June 26. The Marine Engineers and the Employers’ representatives discussed the various clauses of the claims and conn tor claims in committee. An agreement was reached on some minor points, but the most important details were referred to the Arbitration Court.
