THE STATE MINE.
TROUBLE WITH A DEPUTY. Yesterday evening as the miners at the Rcwanui Top Mine left inc pic some four or live of them were notified that they' would be suspended for leaving a given point before knock off time. It appears that the men became very indignant over ibis and for a time ii looked doubtful it there would be work at the State Mine today. From enquiries made from the mtn we understand they' anyone waiting in life dark to spy on tnem, deflaring that no such thing has previously been done at a West Coast mine. The Executive of the State Miners’ Union met lust night to consider the matter. Air 1. A. James was communicated with by telephone, and he agreed to discuss the question with the miners’ representatives io day. In the meantime the mine will work as usual.
