GERMAN TRADERS.

BUSY IN AUSTRALIA. SYDNEY, June 3. According to the ‘‘Daily Telegraph” the representatives of German manufacturers are busy seeking to place orders in Australia, but, generally speaking, they are having a somewhat freezing reception. Many business houses are disinclined to restart handling German goods, though they admit that if such goods come on the market, they -may be forced to stock them. A German representative, when seeking trade with one firm, said that the German prices spoke for themselves. Others, he said, were buying them, and the firm would find itself compelled to do the same. An opinion has been expressed, in some quarters, that the German goods, if they do come, will not be so cheap as is anticipated. ' Others say that the German manufacturers will be prepared to work for a year or two without profit, for the purpose of getting back into the market.
