FRESH REDUCTION PLANNED. NEW YORK, May 25. Chicago leading railway officials declare it will be necessary to ask for a ten per cent, reduction in the wages of railway workers, in order to absorb the freight rate reduction, and leave the necessary earnings. The Workers’ Union threatens a nation-wide strike if further wage reductions are proposed.
