BEEFTON RUGBY NOTES. IKAMATUA-JUNCTION (13) v. CKONADUN-PIRATES (13). The charity match between combined Ikamatua-Junction and C’ronadun-Pir-ates took place yesterday in the presence of a large number of spectators. The weather was ideal for the players but rather cold for the public. Owing to accidents and illness several of the selected players failed to put in an ap- I pearance, their places being taken by substitutes. After very even and fast play the game ended in a draw, 13 points all. The Ikamatua-Junction scores were made up by three tries, Jenkins (1), Coghlan , and a pottea goal by D. Hannah. The try-getters for Cronadun-I’irates were Osborn? (I), Meibom (1), and Wright (1), two of which were converted by O’Regan. The Ikamatua-Junction did not strike form the first spell being in arrears of 10 to nil at half time, but on changing ends quite a different tale was told when they rattled up 13 points to their opponents three. The forwards on both sides played well, the most prominent being Coghlan. Jenkins, McLennan, O’Regan. Dunn ad N. Dick. Amongst the backs Straight. I), and J. Hannah ami Hands were most conspicuous, while \V. Dirk, Wright, Walker ami R. Smith played well for Cronadun-Pirates, the latter showing that with proper coaching, he will develop into a first class scoring back. The Union is in the position of having two sets of forwards •quite up to rep form, but the barks, tso far, are not up to the standard of previous years, though the youngci plays are showng great promise.
