AUSTRALIAN SETTLEMENT
» THE MURRAY RIVER SCHEME. SYDNEY, May 18. Cabinet has called the district engineer at Wentworth to Sydney to advise them on the settling of the Alurray River lands between. Aloama and the South Australian border. He states there arc over 400,000 acres of irrigable land close to the river, on which 20,000 men could be settled. Eventually 28,000 holdings could bo provided for small cultivators on the basis of the Alildura. settlement. This settlement on the New South Wales side would carry 180,000 people.
