FRENCH RUGBY TEAM TO TOUR NEW ZEALAND. WELLINGTON, Jan 17. The French Rugby Union has accepted the New Zealand Union’s terms, and a French team will tour New Zealand this year. It will consist of 29 men who will leave Southampton by the Rualiine in the middle of April, arriving at the beginning of June. They will be under the charge of Mr Rutherford, an Englishman, who is secretary of the French Union. The tour will be under the sole direction of the New Zealand Union. LEAGUE FOOTBALL OLDHAM DEFEATS AUSTRALASIANS. LONDON, Jan 16. At League football Oldham defeated Australasia by 15ptS to 5. The gate receipts of the Australasian footballers’ tour to date exceed £37,000. The Australasians’ share is £21,117. The ground had been cleared of much of the snow before a start was made. It was heavy going. Oldham maintained continual pressure and the first half ended Oldham eight, Australasia three. Play was strenuous throughout, but Oldham always had a bit of the advantage. The final score was Oldham three tries, three goals. Australasia a. goal and a try.
