A CONFERENCE. CAPE TOWN, Jan 14. At its first meeting the conference appointed Judge Curlis as chairman. The proceedings were private, and the conference has adjourned till to-mor-row. AN UNLIKELY REPORT. VICTORY FOR MEN? z CAPE TOWN, Jan 15. A dramatic change has occurred in the strike situation, the Federation agreeing to an unconditional conference with the Chamber of Mines. It is believed that the strike will be settled in the next few days.
