Miss M. Fisher and Miss R. Moore leave by the overland express this morning for Christchurch and Wellington. Mr. E. Twohill has been appointed carter to the Runanga Co-operative Society, having been chosen out of a list of 15 applicants. The jockey Stratton, who was injured as a result of a fall from Prince Ferouz at a recent Greymouth racemeeting, was discharged from the local hospital yesterday. Mr. Frank O’Neill, who had the misfortune to break hi£ leg some weeks ago while engacd in bush work, is now an out-patient of the local hospital and is making good progress towards complete recovery. At St. Patrick’s Church to-morrow morning at 10 o’clock the marriage will be celebrated of Miss Eily Molloy,’ only daughter of Mr and Mrs P. Malloy, of Gresson Street, .to Mr J. Kennedy of Mr and Mrs Kennedy, of Chapel Street. The young couple are well and favourably .known here and we join with their many friends in extending to them best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity. The death is recorded at Waitaha, South Westland, of Mr. John Douglas, a well-known settler, after a short illness. He was 50 years of age, and a native of AVoodstock, and leaves a widow and family of four sons and two daughters, and also' a number of brothers and sisters to mourn their loss. The family has had many bereavements in the last few years, and much sympathy is felt for them. The deputation appointed by the Greymouth Chamber of Commerce, consisting of Messrs T. E. Coates and AV. R. Kettle, will leave by fhis morning’s overland express en route to AVellington, where they will interview the Prime Minister regarding the question of Native Leases and other matters affecting the welfare of the town. Mr. F. A. Kitchinghani will join the deputation at Christchurch and proceed with them to AVellington.
