Harry Holmes cabled from Sydney laM week that he would be returning to Wellington by the first available !>o:it. He and Mick Rutherford should be a good match for any association want ing to please its patrons. It had been arranged that Sid Godfrey and Criqui should meet jit the Stadium on Boxing night. It is now stared that Wyns has been substituted fur the Frenchman. Criqui will be i pitied against Jamito. .Benny Murphy and "Soanian Brown will meet at the Municipal Cup night at Invereiyrgill, on January 3. The contest will be for a purse, plus the welter-weight New Zealand championship and belt. Jimmy Clabby left " Auckland on Thursday, under contract to the Sydney Stadium, Ltd. He has been promised three fights — two Avith Billjj Shade and one with Francis Charles. Still another promising contest was cut short by a foul last 'Saturday night, when a big crowd was present to see Jamito (9st) meet Jerry Sullivan (8.10-J). The pair had fought at ,a furious pace for two rounds when Sullivan hit low and . Keferee Wallis immediately awarded the fight to Jamito on a foul. There was tremendous excitement, as Sullivan was a 2 to 1 on favourite. This was the second fight in succession lost on a foul, and the public is becoming restive. — K.Z. "Truth." Frank Brogan (9.93-) beat Harry Stone (9.9J) at Perth last week. The fight went the full 20 rounds, 'and after an uninteresting bout, the decision went to Brogan. "Digger" Evans intimates his intention to take proceedings against die N.Z. "Truth" for alleged defamation" of character in connection with the Australian's recent fight with Uren I at Dunedin.
