(c) Medical Inspection of all employees and compensation -for all employees eliminated from th c industry owing to occupational diseases. The principal gains a>re: Reduction of nine hours 50 minutes per week for underground workers. Stopping on nig lit shift has been abolished. fl The shifts will be worked as. follows; Five days of seven hours, one winding m the men's time and the other in the employers. There will bo at least one hour break between the shifts. The hours of work on _the surface have been reduced to 44 and 46 per. week inclusive of •.?() nnd 36 minutes for men I respectively. About 4000 employees have already Iv^en examined for pneumoco lipsis and tuberculosis. 20l of those, already examined must be withdrawn from the industry and compensated. There are approximately 4000 more to be examined which will probably mean a further elimination of 200. these, will also be compensated. The Medical Commission is to conti me its work by complete examination, of oil emnlovees for pnoumoconiosis. Air and dust tests pre n^so to be made, after which the Commission will proceed with an *rxliau stive examination for lead «nd other industrial diseases.
