TOM MIX IN "FAME AND FORTUNE. • At the Town Hall to-night, and tomorrow night a<nd at the matinee Saturday, Peerless Pictures will V ocluce the great Fox picture ''Fame and Fortune," in which the favourite Tom Mix is seen at his best. The picture films the life of "Big Dave" Dawley in a.-i American town. "Big Dave Dawley saw the main chance rfor which his opportunist nature has been aiting when WJlrjam Burgess*, banker at the wild and woolly town -Palo "crashed in. 1 ' Not finding a will, he forges one in his own favour with the aid of his cowardly henchman, Judge Quinn, whom he cows into doing his bidding. But Ben Davis, the notary, refuses to be awed into affixing his seal on the forged will. Dawley thereupon gives him an hour to leave the town, which he does. Dawley's haste in arranging matters is due to the expected arrival of Clay Burgess, son of the late banker. He takes charge of the bank on the strength of the spurious document and decides to prevent exposure, to have Clayton Buross murdered as. the simplest means | to get him out of the way. He sends two of his men to waylay him, but young Burgess worsts his assailants, killing one but is severely wounded. By a< subterfuge, later, when the young man has reached Palo and learned of his father's death, Dawlev disarms him and then seeks to have him held on a charge of murder for killing the* man whom he shot in selfdefence. Burgess, who is fast weakening from the effects of the wound he recived in the fight, manages to ,tret away on his horse. The swaying (figure on the loopfhg horse is seen ' : l->y Delia.
