RACING CLUBS' STAKES QUESTION.

CHRISTCHURCH, December 16. The Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association decided to-night to refer back to the Foibury Park Trotting Club the Dimlight case for information as to whether the stewards considered the interference for which Dimlight was disqualified was intentional or not. The case was forwarded by the Winto^i Jockey Club, reporting that J. Duffy had been fined £20 for interference. It was considered and the Boa"rd inflicted a penalty of six months' disqualification. The Association decided to hold at its next meeting an enquhy into the starting at Forbury Park Club's Spring Meeting and to invite the club to send a representative. It was decided to suspend till next season a resolution recently passed, compelling the stakes for trotting events on racing clubs' programmes to be brought up to the average value of tho whole programme. In the race for the Mace Memorial the placed horses' .times were 4.37, 4.36, 4.35 2-5. Eorke's Drift led along the back, well out from Ouimet, Locanda Dillon, and Maoriland. The field got together-, about half-way. Rangitata Lass led by a little at the stewards' stand from Sympathy and Ouimet. Paul Dufault -was well be-, hind, leading Eorke 's Drift and Maoriland. Ouimet and Paul Dufault got up near the leaders half a mile from homo.. Sympathy lasted best, and won a good contest by a length. ViceAdmiral was the same , distance away third. l
