THE DEMPSEY-BRENNAN MATCH.
NEW YORK, December 14. From tho beginning to the end of the Dcmpsey-Brcnnan fight, it was a quick, vigorous and a full,. hard give and take battle. The first two rounds weTe even, both men slashing at each other with body and head blows. The third round favoured Brennan, who drove the champion to tho ropes with body jabs. The fourth and fifth rounds were Dempsey 's, the champion staggering his opponent with a vicious onslaught. Both men clinched often, but Dempsey succeeded in severely punishing Brennan about the body during the clinches. The : sixth and sev : crith rounds were slightly in favour of Dempsey. Brennan, however, vigorously opposed the. champion in the eighth round: Brennan 's " mouth was badly cut and he was very weary. The ninth, tenth and eleventh rounds found both men opposing each other staunchly. Dempsey's mouth and left ear were badly bleeding. Brennan appeared rvery tired, but during the 11th he seemed to force the fighting. Dempsey continued to punish Brennan about the body during the clinches. A knock-out, came in the second minute of the twelfth round, when Dempsey landed a right to the, heart, /followed with a left to the ribs. Thus ended what is considered the most vicious contested heavy-weight championship seen here for a long time.
